On ChatGPT, the advanced voice mode allows you to chat with the artificial intelligence, as if you were chatting with a human. The performance of this voice interface is quite interesting, since you feel like you are really talking to ChatGPT, which you can even interrupt. But this feature was incomplete until now.

Indeed, during the presentation of GPT-4o and the advanced voice mode, OpenAI also announced the possibility of chatting with the AI while showing it a video in real time, with a smartphone camera (as if it were a video call with the AI). And the good news is that this new feature is finally being deployed.

This feature is very useful, since the user can, for example, film himself while doing something, while asking ChatGPT for advice. And that's not all, since the feature is also able to use video screen capture. Thus, it becomes possible to ask questions to the AI about what is displayed on the screen. For example, the user can open a message on their iPhone and ask ChatGPT for help in responding, without copying and pasting.

Who will be able to access the live video on ChatGPT's advanced voice mode ?

Unfortunately, this new feature won’t be available to everyone, as it will be reserved for paying users. “All Team users and most Plus and Pro users should have access to it within the next week in the latest version of the ChatGPT mobile app,” says OpenAI. In addition, it also promises to offer this new feature to users in the European Union as soon as possible (without giving a specific date).

As a reminder, OpenAI is rolling out live video on advanced voice mode, as part of its 12 days of announcements. It kicked off the hostilities on December 5, by launching the ChatGPT Pro subscription. OpenAI also launched its Sora generator, ChatGPT's Siri integration, and recently made ChatGPT's Canvas feature free for everyone.

  • OpenAI already offers an advanced voice mode that allows you to chat with the AI (almost) as if you were chatting with a real person
  • And now, this advanced voice mode also supports live video
  • However, this new feature is reserved for paying users and is not yet available in the EU
