We We are currently without much news about the fifth version of ChatGPT, which should logically arrive this summer. This doesn't mean that OpenAI is giving up on its baby, ChatGPT 4. Initially planned for June, the advanced voice mode will finally see the light of day, but for the moment this will only concern a handful of users.
An innovation that gets people talking
This voice feature will be exclusively for people subscribing to the paid version of the chatbot. The latter, initially unveiled in May during an OpenAI presentation, had provoked mixed reactions.
Indeed, one of the proposed voices, called Sky, presented a striking similarity with the timbre of the famous actress Scarlett Johansson. From an ethical and legal point of view, we have seen better. Although planned for June, the launch was delayed due to security concerns, which have now been resolved.
Through a press release on X.com, OpenAI has made official the gradual introduction of this feature. « We are beginning to roll out Advanced Voice Mode to a select group of ChatGPT Plus users. This option allows for more fluid and instantaneous exchanges, offers the possibility of interrupting the conversation at any time, and adapts to the emotions of the interlocutor to respond appropriately ».

More natural voice interactions
The advanced voice mode aims to completely renew interactions with ChatGPT. Unlike existing voice features, this innovation allows you to interrupt the dialogue without disrupting its flow, giving the exchanges a more natural and spontaneous character.
With this in mind, OpenAI has worked closely with voice professionals to design four distinct timbres, deliberately excluding Sky. This approach is intended to ensure increased voice quality and better adaptability to the diverse expectations of users.
Eligible subscribers will be notified by email about how to use this feature, along with a notification on their mobile apps. OpenAI plans to gradually expand access to all subscribers by the fall.
The firm also announced the imminent publication in August of a comprehensive report on the capabilities, limitations, and security assessments of GPT-4. This document aims to provide total transparency on the company's progress on their chatbot. So stay attentive if you are a GPT Plus subscriber, it could be that you are part of the batch of users planned for the test.
