In 2023, when Oppo ceased its activities in France, there was incomprehension. Indeed, it is a brand whose high-end devices are very popular. This had a conflict with Nokia, because of patents. But Oppo was not found guilty in France, at first instance.

But, in any case, Oppo is already back on the European continent. He took advantage of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to announce this comeback. “As part of its long-term commitment to the European market, OPPO announced that users in the markets where OPPO has a presence will soon benefit from OPPO's innovative products”, we can also read in a post from the company.

In January, Nokia announced a cross-licensing agreement that includes 5G patents, and which puts an end to litigation between the two companies in all jurisdictions. “OPPO will make royalty payments, as well as catch-up payments to cover periods of non-payment”, Nokia also indicated. The announcement of the return to Europe was already anticipated, after this agreement.

This week, Oppo also announced a partnership with operator Telefónica, which will support its growth, particularly in Europe.

Still a smartphone giant

In any case, even if we haven't heard too much about Oppo in Europe, over the In recent months, it has remained a leader in the global smartphone market. Citing Canalys figures, Oppo still claims fourth place globally, with 9% market share in 2023, and 100 million devices shipped.
