Le décès de l’emblématique président Maurice Soulier, fin septembre, oblige à des évolutions. Une assemblée générale est convoquée ce samedi 11 janvier, à 14 h, à la salle des fêtes de Saint-Marcel-de-Careiret.

A major upheaval is coming to the cantonal committee of the Fnaca of Bagnols-sur-Cèze. Its members have been orphaned since Maurice Soulier, who was its president for twenty-six years, left for other climes at the end of September 2024. Since then, the members of the office have been working to ensure his succession.
Jean-Claude Bouillard, secretary, Jean-Louis Bouchon, treasurer, and HenriGodaill, vice-president, have been working to replace someone who is irreplaceable. In recent weeks, they have been preparing the general assembly, a necessarily exceptional meeting that will take place this Saturday, January 11, from 2 p.m., at the Saint-Marcel-de-Careiret village hall. “Our president has passed away, we have to renew the office. Maurice took care of a lot of things. He didn't delegate! He made all the speeches”, says Jean-Louis Bouchon. “He had such energy, he was an oak”, adds his lifelong friend Henri Godaill. The latter, after having invested himself for a long time, wishes to leave the office. “I am 87 years old…”, he explains.

The committee has more than 400 members

On the agenda of this general meeting, an inaugural speech by the vice-president Henri Godaill; the financial report; the change of the statutes of the association (the current statutes are obsolete); and the election of the new board.
In 2024, the association had 401 members and 75 supporters. “We participate in all patriotic ceremonies, we take care of members' burials…”, recalls Henri Godaill. The monthly meetings, every first Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m., continue at the Maison du combattant, place Mallet, in Bagnols.
Next meetings for the Fnaca, the traditional ceremony of March 19 (a friendly meal will follow) and on June 7, the Fnaca Day will take place in Combe.
Continuing to transmit to the world the duty of remembrance, that is the mission of these men who, so young, were confronted with the horrors of war. Their smiles and their joy of life are inspiring…
