Le Gévaudan, “un terrain de jeu grandeur nature”. Midi Libre – Manon Baffie
A partnership agreement was signed on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 in Marvejols between the Gévaudan community of communes, the French Hiking Federation and the French Cycling Federation.
Promoting outdoor activities. This is the objective of the agreement signed this Wednesday, December 18 between the Gévaudan community of communes, the French Cycling Federation (FFC) and the French Hiking Federation (FFR). It should make it possible to give greater visibility to these activities, while avoiding conflicts of use. How to make the most of the “life-size playground” that the Gévaudan region has to offer.
Olivier Berne, representative of the French Cycling Federation (FFC) and president of the Targuet Bike Adventure association, expressed his joy at seeing the agreement signed: “I have always dreamed of having well-marked routes, which could allow people to discover these practices within our communities.“
200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000He was keen to create routes throughout the community. There are fifteen of them, for a total of 360 km. “It is the largest FFC-certified park in the department“, underlines Olivier Berne.
The markings in place indicate the direction to follow but also the wrong roads, the two-way sections and the areas where you should slow down. Enough to get started with complete peace of mind. All levels of difficulty are represented, from easy to very difficult.
The shortest route is 9 km long. It starts from Marvejols and reaches the Cham plateau. The longest goes around the Aubrac mountains in 50.4 km with 1,410 m of positive elevation gain.
The agreement also confirmed the renewal of the partnership between the community of communes and the French Hiking Federation (FFR) for the marking and maintenance of the paths.
The territory of the community of communes alone has 169 km of Walks and Hikes (PR), not counting the two GR® that cross it (the path of Urbain V and the tour of the Aubrac mountains) recalled the president of the Lozère branch of the FFR, Danielle Mouffard.
In addition to these routes, the community wants to develop itineraries for people with reduced mobility. The territory already has one, thanks to the Montrodat center. An approach that the community of communes wishes to “continue within the framework of the Tourism and Disability label“, specifies the president Patricia Brémond.
Another area of work, the “hike at the exit of the station“. Especially since the one in Marvejols has just been renovated and the restoration of the one in Chirac is in the pipeline.
In addition to hiking and cycling, the Gévaudan community of communes has built climbing facilities in Val d'Enfer to make it more practical and secure. The site now has fifty-four routes, from 8 m to 30 m. Ten trail routes have also been marked. “We are working on a long-distance trail event that we want to make unmissable and annual“, announces Patricia Brémond.
Finally, the community is interested in developing equestrian activities. With this in mind, the Gévaudan community of communes launched an equestrian show in Bourg-sur-Colagne last July.
