Since November 2024, P. Diddy has denied the charges. Lately, things have seemed to be turning in the rapper's favor due to allegations that are allegedly false.
One of his accusers, Courtney Burgess, claims to have sex tapes of P. Diddy with celebrities and minors. She also claims to have memoirs that were allegedly entrusted to her by Kim Porter, the ex-girlfriend of Sean John Combs, who died in 2018. However, the famous rapper's lawyers deny any connection between Courtney Burgess and Puff Daddy's family, calling the claims “blatant lies“.

Diddy, 55, filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit on January 22, 2025, in the Southern District Court of New York. The suit targets Courtney Burgess, her attorney Ariel Mitchell, and the network NewsNationfor spreading false allegations. Courtney Burgess and Ariel Mitchell allegedly repeated the allegations to multiple media outlets, including NewsNation, which allegedly failed to investigate them before publishing them, the complaint states.
“These intentional lies have poisoned the public's perception,” Diddy's attorney Erica Wolff told People magazine.. The airing of the accusations also allegedly benefited the opposing parties. According to the complaint, Courtney Burgess monetized her allegations through memoirs. Ariel Mitchell, for her part, allegedly gained media notoriety. And finally, the NewsNation channel reportedly saw its audience grow.
“Sean 'Diddy' Combs is taking a stand against the malicious lies that were fabricated and amplified by individuals looking to profit at his expense,” Diddy's lawyer told People. Erica Wolff accuses the defendants of deliberately fabricating and spread outrageous lies, thus threatening the rapper's right to a fair trial.
For his part, Ariel Mitchell, responding for the accused, describes this complaint as a “pathetic ploy” intended to silence the victims. “Diddy has time to file a complaint but refuses to accept the services of the prosecutions already initiated against him“, says the lawyer. She intends to counter-attack and demand sanctions for this action deemed unfounded by the defense.
