Le < strong>commercial profession stands out for its omnipresence on all job offer platforms, as highlighted by a recent study carried out by Randstad and Golden Bees , relayed by Le Figaro. In 2022, no fewer than 225,685 advertisements were published for this type of position, although the report shows a 27.6% drop in advertisements compared to the previous year.

XL salary on the line

The majority of salespeople (76%) are recruited on permanent contracts while work-study programs and fixed-term contracts represent just over 8% and 4.3% of the offers listed on job search platforms, respectively. Unsurprisingly, the Île-de-France region is the main recruitment area, followed by Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

In terms of remuneration, the average gross monthly salary of a salesperson is 6,085 euros. As with all professions, this figure varies greatly depending on age and professional experience. Note that there is a significant concentration of 42.63% of salespeople in the 36-49 age group. Beyond that, the demanding profession is sometimes neglected.

AI could turn everything upside down

Like many other professions, the sales position also faces challenges posed by artificial intelligence. According to the Roland Berger firm, quoted by our colleagues at Le Figaro, one in three jobs in this sector is likely to be affected by this technology.

The impact of AI can be divided into two categories: on the one hand, jobs with high potential for growth where AI can lighten certain tasks (and thus increase productivity) and on the other hand, those with high automation potential that risk disappearing.

Salespeople fall into two subcategories: transactional sales, which are more vulnerable to automation, and consultative sales, which rely on a relationship of trust with customers. As always, those professionals who are able to integrate AI and new technologies into their sales process should emerge stronger, while the others will be sidelined.

That said, let's not kid ourselves: the sales profession will continue to exist and will never be completely replaced by AI, the latter relying on a “human” relationship. to conclude transactions.
