The 2024 Paralympic Games are officially launched this Wednesday, August 28 after the opening ceremony, the show in pictures.

Thank you all for following us during this opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. A superb show, enough to launch eleven days of competition that will follow in the best possible way. A great end to the evening at all!

23:40 – The fireworks!

At the end of a colorful tableau and exciting, a fireworks display closes a lovely performance by Christine and the Queens.

23:37 – The cauldron rises into the sky

The cauldron takes its place in the sky as Christine and the Queens return to the stage to perform Born To Be Alive by Patrick Hernandez, the final act of this opening ceremony: “celebration”.

Five athletes have just rekindled the flame with the French flag bearers who have been joined by Charles-Antoine Kouakou, Fabien Lamirault and Elodie Lorandi. The chills…

Alexis Hanquinquant and Nantenin Keita go around the cauldron before passing on to the last relay…

23:31 – The last relays of the flame

Christian Lachaud, a former fencer, and then Béatrice Hess, the second most successful athlete of all time at the Paralympic Games, bring them closer to little the flame of the cauldron.

23:29 – The flame is in the Tuileries Gardens

It's the turn of Assia El Hannouni, French superstar in para-athletics, to recover the Olympic flame.

23:22 – Oksana Masters' turn

One of the favorites in para cycling takes over by carrying the flame in turn. She precedes Markus Rehm who leaves the Concorde site towards the cauldron.

23:20 – Béatrice Vio takes possession of the flame

The famous Italian Paralympic athlete, double winner in Rio and Tokyo in para fencing, picks up the flame.

23:17 – Michael Jeremiasz takes over

As the “Concorde” scene begins, Michael Jeremiasz appears on the stage, flame in hand. In the background, a composition by Maurice Ravel while the dancers all have flaming torches.

23:15 – Florent Manaudou approaches with the flame

The swimmer is about to reach the Place de la Concorde, the flame in his hands.

23:10 – Sébastien Tellier performs « La Ritournelle »

As we approach the end of this Paralympic Games opening ceremony, Sébastien Tellier performs “La Ritournelle” with a play of lights. A performance that precedes the arrival of the flame.

23:04 – The athletes' oath

The athletes have just taken the oath on stage before reliving the flame's journey in video.

23:02 – The Paralympic anthem sounds

Luan Pommier sings the Paralympic anthem as the Paralympic flag appears, brought by John McFall, the first disabled astronaut. The flag is currently being raised.
