Pensioner beheaded in Agde: sentenced to life imprisonment, ex-boxer Jean-Michel Moulun has appealed

Jean-Michel Moulun, pushed by his lawyer Me Caniez, confessed at the hearing. MIDI LIBRE – Aline Champsaur

A second trial should be held next year before the Assize Court of Aude in Carcassonne or before that of the Pyrénées-Orientales in Perpignan. Jean-Michel Moulun, 54, a former boxer from the North, murdered Evelyne, a 77-year-old retired schoolteacher, on October 13, 2021 in his villa in Agde. He was sentenced on December 11 to the maximum sentence by the Assize Court of Hérault.

He had ten days to appeal: he did not wait until the end of the maximum period to ask for a retrial. Sentenced on December 11 to life imprisonment, Jean-Michel Moulun, a former boxer from the North, where he was also a candidate in municipal elections on a National Front list, decided on Monday, December 16 to appeal the decision rendered by the Assize Court of Hérault, learned Midi Libre from Me Anthony Caniez, one of his lawyers.

The fifty-year-old is accused of having beheaded Evelyne, a 77-year-old retired teacher, on October 13, 2021, who had employed him as a gardener for several years before firing him a year earlier, because she suspected his wife, whom she also employed as a home help, of having committed thefts.

A few days before the anniversary of the murder of Samuel Paty

The man had denied this terrible crime, which occurred a few days before the anniversary of the terrorist attack committed against Samuel Paty. He finally confessed, pushed by his lawyer, on the second day of the trial before the Hérault Assize Court. According to this man who had accumulated multiple failures, sporting, political and professional, it is because the septuagenarian would have renewed her accusations against his wife that he would have taken action. Psychiatrists had put forward the explanation of a “revenge of self-esteem” to explain this very particular killing.

A new trial should therefore be held in 2025 before the Assize Court of Aude in Carcassonne or before that of the Pyrénées-Orientales in Perpignan.
