In Europe, 12.9 million new passenger cars were sold in 2024, an increase of 0.9% in one year, according to the latest data from JATO Dynamics. Despite this increase, the level of sales remains lower than it was before the Covid-19 pandemic.
For the first time, it is the Dacia Sandero that rises to the top of sales, ahead of the Tesla Model Y, the best-selling car in Europe the previous year. The Romanian city car has attracted a huge number of buyers with its attractive price and practicality.
It should also be noted that SUVs continue to break sales records, now representing 54% of total new registrations in Europe. 6.92 million SUVs were sold in 2024 on the Old Continent, an increase of 4% compared to 2023.
