The end of an era. Philippe Bouvard, who turns 95 this Thursday, December 6, 2024, will soon be retiring. “I made the decision, but little by little, to retire, to say goodbye or to say farewell. But finally, it was already done”, he announced to the microphone of our colleagues at RTL.

The time for farewells has come for the man who was the station's flagship presenter for a very long time: “I would like to tell [listeners] that I had special ties with them. So, I had special ties and ties that voice creates and that reading does not always create.” Philippe Bouvard will leave the airwaves starting in January 2025, after some sixty years devoted to the radio.

Philippe Bouvard makes no secret of leading an expensive lifestyle. In recent years, he has nevertheless separated himself from several of his possessions. The former host of Grosses Têtes has thus given up his mansion located in the heart of Paris, but also his Rolls Royce Corniche, in addition to auctioning off several bottles of grand cru, numerous books and furniture.

However, there is no question of squandering one's estate before dying. According to the media Purepeople, the father of the family “will still leave an inheritance of several million euros to his two daughters, Dominique (born in 1954) and Nathalie (born in 1964), his four grandchildren and his two great-grandchildren”.

Philippe Bouvard: his regret towards his children

In an interview given to Mireille Dumas for Paris Match in 2019, Philippe Bouvard spoke about the complicated experience of fatherhood. “I surely missed a lot of things. I try to be a better grandfather than I was a father, he confided to his colleague. I am becoming a patriarch thanks to my great-grandchildren. It is very nice. Two daughters, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, çmade a nice table.”

Philippe Bouvard's two daughters, journalists like their fear, each gave birth to boys. Dominique is the mother of a small family, Hugo, Théo and Lancelot. Her sister Nathalie only had one child named Hadrien.
