Spread the love

The closing ceremony will take place on Sunday, August 11 at the Stade de France. Several artists and groups are expected, such as Phoenix, who are particularly popular across the Atlantic.

After the spectacular opening ceremony on Friday, July 26, the closing ceremony should be just as spectacular. Director Thomas Jolly is taking charge of this ceremony, which will this time take place in a closed arena, at the Stade de France. It should nevertheless be just as impressive, with artists famous throughout the world. In addition, the tradition in this type of ceremony is to pass the torch to the next host country. It should therefore be focused on the United States, which will host the Games in Los Angeles in 2028.

So, this show entitled “Records” should include among its artists the group Phoenix, according to information from Le Parisien. This French group is a real phenomenon across the Atlantic. Led by Thomas Mars, married to director Sofia Coppola, and therefore son-in-law of filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, the group won a Grammy Award in 2010, the equivalent of the Victoires de la Musique, for their 4th album “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix”.

Concerts in iconic locations

The Versailles quartet is appreciated in the United States for its edgy, electronic-accented English-language pop. They have notably played at Madison Square Garden in New York in 2010 with Daft Punk [since separated, Editor's note]. The group also performed at the famous Coachella festival in California, which brings together the biggest stars in music every year. Finally, their latest feat dates back to July 17 of this year, when they gave a concert on the roof of Terminal 1 of Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport, accompanied by of the Air group, which should also be present on Sunday August 11.
