Incarcerated in Bordeaux for unintentional injuries, Pierre Palmade was sentenced to five years in prison, two of which were firm. Our colleagues at RTL then consulted court documents, the content of which was revealed this Thursday, January 9, 2025. The judges then indicated that Pierre Palmade alone was responsible for the accident which caused “the death of a fetus at an advanced stage of viability” and “irreversible injuries and sequelae to several victims”. According to the testimonies, “Pierre Palmade necessarily turned the steering wheel to the left” before moving away.

He “was aware of the risks he was incurring”, the documents indicate. The judges then indicated that “even if he seems to have become aware of the seriousness of the facts and to have stopped by medical monitoring any consumption, his situation appears very fragile in view of his numerous relapses”.

A reason that leads him to prison. Our colleagues at RTL specify that they read that “a few months after the accident, while he was placed under judicial control, he consumed again narcotics in nightclubs”.

Thus, to avoid a new tragedy, imprisonment is “the only one likely to repress his behavior sufficiently effectively, with the exception of any other that would be insufficiently dissuasive”. His prison sentence thus serves to “punish the perpetrator while promoting its reintegration”. 

A “quantity” significant” amount of drugs found

The magistrates also highlighted Pierre Palma's consumption of “cocaine” in “significant amount” at the time of the events. Although “having already been convicted for drug use in the past, a warning which he did not seize the opportunity to receive, he did not hesitate after three days of repeated consumption of drugs to take his vehicle”.

Facts described as “of seriousness exceptional”. The comedian has been living in prison for several months now. He also has to treat his drug addictions, which he has been battling for several decades.
