Sentenced for the very serious road accident he caused at the beginning of 2023, the former comedian was incarcerated at the Bordeaux-Gradignan penitentiary center. An arrival that did not fail to disrupt the days of the prison staff.

Because in fact, both for health reasons and for security reasons, Pierre Palmade was placed in isolation. He is therefore not in contact with his fellow inmates and only the prison guards can approach him. A situation that could well lead to a dramatic situation, if we are to believe certain reports.

The reinforced surveillance around Pierre Palmade

Because in addition to having been placed in solitary confinement, Pierre Palmade, who traded his cocaine addiction for a chocolate addiction, is also under close surveillance. Thus, each package, each letter received by the former comedian is meticulously checked to ensure that nothing illicit or dangerous enters the prison. Thus, everything is done to ensure that the VIP inmate is safe.

However, this did not prevent Pierre Palmade to be the victim of a strange incident, to say the least. Indeed, an unknown man, introducing himself as a “staff representative“, had apparently visited him. An event all the stranger since, following this unexpected visit, the prison doors separating the VIP quarters had remained openwithout any incidents to be deplored. Due to his status as a public figure, it is not impossible that Pierre Palmade is the target of other prisoners in the prison who could have malicious intentions against him.

But beyond of the possibilities of attacks that could be targeted at Pierre Palmade, there is also another factor that raises many concerns: the prison world itself. Indeed, the prison in which the former comedian was incarcerated is one of the most overcrowded in France. An overpopulation that harms security inmates, but also guards.

Furthermore, in 2015, the National Institute of Demographic Studies (INED) published a study according to which suicide is seven times more frequent in prison. A figure that can be explained by several factors, including the loss of social ties, confinement or even guilt.
