The comedian is now behind bars…On Friday, February 10, 2023, in Seine-et-Marne, Pierre Palmad's vehicle collided head-on with a car driving in the opposite direction. Inside were Yuksel Yakut, who has since undergone six surgeries and has been living with 48 screws in his body, his son, Devrim, who was also affected, and his sister-in-law, Mila, who is pregnant and who lost her baby following this accident.

Wednesday, November 20, 2024, after a long trial, the comedian was sentenced to five years in prison, two of which were firm and three of which were suspended probation. His sentence is also accompanied by a triple obligation of care, to exercise a professional activity and to compensate the victims, as well as the cancellation of his driving license with a ban on issuing one for five years. Faced with this, Muriel Robin's former friend has decided not to appeal.

For several weeks, the 56-year-old comedian has been incarcerated in Bordeaux-Gradignan prison, where he would be subject to very close surveillance. Attention that would weigh heavily on the guards, as reported by France Dimanche on Friday, January 17, 2025. Under the cover of anonymity, a guard confided to the magazine: “He will inevitably crack (…) He will not hold up”.

Since his arrival, Pierre Palmade has reportedly been receiving food deliveries on a regular basis. He has apparently replaced his drug addiction with an obsession with sugar, and is reportedly eating a lot of chocolate. “It's room service!”, a guard quipped.

A common behavior in prison

Interviewed by France Dimanche, a prison psychologist spoke about his food deliveries. “Food or behavioral addictions are common in closed settings. They often replace addictions to illicit substances by offering immediate satisfaction and avoid confronting inmates with their trauma“, he said.

For Le Point, neuroaddictologist Serge Ahmed had already spoken about sugar addiction. “All drugs have in common their action on the reward circuit, these neurons that use a particular neurotransmitter, dopamine. The particularity of the addictive mechanism is that when drugs act on this circuit, it does not become accustomed to it. This is abnormal: the desire to consume increases as use is repeated instead of decreasing. Sugar does not act as directly as other drugs on this circuitt, but it stimulates it repeatedly through a single consumption”, he had indicated.
