Incarcerated since December 9, 2024 at the Bordeaux-Gradignan prison following his conviction for the road accident he caused in February 2023, Pierre Palmad is living difficult days behind bars. But the light at the end of the tunnel is nearing for the 56-year-old former comedian.

Sentenced on November 20, 2024 by the criminal court of Melun to 5 years in prison, 2 of which are firm for “injuries aggravated“, Pierre Palmade has been serving his sentence for a month at the Bordeaux-Gradignan remand center. Placed in solitary confinement due to his notoriety and psychological fragility, the former star comedian lives an unenviable daily life. But he should soon be able to request a sentence reduction.

In this overcrowded establishment which has more than 1000 inmates for only 633 places, the former comedian is in solitary confinement. He occupies a cell of about ten square meters alone, summarily equipped with a bed, a shower, toilets and a kitchenette.
His days are punctuated by television and writing, according to prison sources. But he rarely goes out for walks, a moment he considers “too gloomy“. The guards, who multiply the rounds because of his psychological fragility, describe him as “polite and discreet” but also “destroyed“. On the health, a doctor visits him every week to monitor his treatment for his addictions.
Despite these difficult detention conditions, Pierre Palmade should soon see the light at the end of the tunnel. Indeed, he will be able to submit a request for a sentence adjustment as early as April 2025, i.e. barely 4 months after his incarceration. If he wins his case, he could finish serving his sentence outside of prison, for example with an electronic bracelet.
A prospect that should help him cope on a daily basis and count the days until a potential early release. His lawyers will no doubt argue his treatment, begun immediately after the accident in 2023, and his good conduct in detention to support this request. A release for the former public entertainer, no doubt eager to close this painful judicial episode.
