A plane crash occurred in Brazil, in the state of Sao Paulo. All 62 people on board died in the accident.
The accident occurred on Friday, August 9. A passenger plane carrying 62 people, including 58 passengers and 4 crew members, and traveling from Cascavel, in the state of Paraná (South), and Guarulhos International Airport in Sao Paulo, reports Le Parisien. According to local sources, including firefighters and Brazilian airline Voepass Linhas Aéreas, none of the people on board survived.

The aircraft, a Franco-Italian ATR 72-500 model, can be seen spinning in the sky while falling very quickly. A movement that is far from usual for an aircraft, which alerted direct witnesses of the scene, residents of the city of Vinhedo, which has 76,000 inhabitants and is located 80 km northwest of Sao Paulo. After this tragedy, the country is in mourning. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva quickly reacted on X: “Very sad news. All my solidarity is with the families and friends of the victims.” Rescue workers also quickly responded and teams of firefighters, military police and civil defense from the state of Sao Paulo were deployed to the Capelá neighborhood in Vinhedo. The reasons for the crash are not yet known. It is not known whether this was due to human or material failure, or some other cause. This will be determined by the investigation.
