Un membre d’équipage de la compagnie aérienne Swiss International Air Lines est décédé après un atterrissage d’urgence d’un de ses avions la semaine dernière.

Swiss International Air Lines announced on Monday that a crew member of a Bucharest-Zurich flight that made an emergency landing on December 23 has died in hospital due to engine trouble and smoke in the cockpit.

In intensive care for a week

Twelve of the 74 passengers on board the Airbus A220-300 received medical treatment after the plane landed in Graz, Austria.

A cabin crew member was airlifted to a hospital in Graz and has been in intensive care since then. The Swiss company announced his death on Monday.

Swiss notably stated last week that according to the first elements of the investigation, a technical defect in one of the engines was probably the cause of the incident

“Saddened and stunned”

Swiss did not wish to communicate either his identity or the exact causes of his death “out of respect for his loved ones”.

“This news leaves us deeply saddened and stunned. Our thoughts are with the young man's loved ones, whose pain must be boundless,”, Swiss CEO Jens Fehlinger said in a statement.
