Liberal leadership candidate Charles Milliard has received the support of two former ministers in Philippe Couillard’s government.

They are Jean D’Amour (former Minister Delegate for Maritime Affairs) and Lucie Charlebois (former Minister Delegate for Youth Protection and Public Health). The two former elected officials will co-chair the campaign of the former CEO of the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec.

The information, first reported by Radio-Canada, was confirmed in a press release from Mr. Milliard published on Facebook on Tuesday.

The two former ministers also sat on the party’s revival committee, which submitted its report in October 2023.

For now, Charles Milliard is the only confirmed candidate in the Liberal race, along with former Montreal mayor Denis Coderre.

Federal Transport Minister Pablo Rodriguez continues to keep the suspense alive as to whether he will run for the leadership.

Victoriaville mayor Antoine Tardif is also in demand and has not ruled out running launch.

The Liberal MP for Marguerite-Bourgeoys, Frédéric Beauchemin, continues to say that he is thinking about it, but he should launch it soon.

The race for the leadership of the Quebec Liberal Party is set to begin in January 2025. The next Liberal leader will be chosen in the summer of that year.
