One more studio! Game Freak, the developer behind the famous Pokémon franchise, has just been the victim of an unprecedented hack.

If the leak around Insomniac Games and Wolverine was significant, today's leak knows no measure. Hundreds of confidential documents are now circulating on the internet, revealing the Japanese company's best-kept secrets.

The leak, dubbed “Teraleak” by fans, not only exposes Game Freak's future plans, but also the source code of iconic games and sensitive information about Nintendo's next console.

A hack with devastating consequences

Game Freak has confirmed that its servers were hacked last August. The company initially reported the theft of personal data of more than 2,600 current and former employees.

This weekend, thousands of confidential files began flooding social media. Reddit and X have become the epicenters of this digital earthquake.

The scale of this leak is simply colossal. It affects practically every aspect of the Pokémon franchise and goes even beyond the games.

Revelations about the future of Pokémon

Among the most juicy information are details about the upcoming Pokémon games of the 10th generation. Two codenames have been revealed: “Ounce” and “Gaia”. These projects could well mark a turning point in the history of the franchise.

But that's not all. The leak also mentions a mysterious Pokémon MMO project (massively multiplayer online game). Such a direction could revolutionize the Pokémon experience as we know it.

Fans of the animated series and films are not left out. Documents hint at a new animated series in the works, as well as several feature film projects, including the highly anticipated Detective Pikachu sequel.

Switch 2 at the Heart of the Scandal

Nintendo is not immune to the revelations of this hack. Internal documents refer to the Switch 2, the future console of the Kyoto firm. Although the details are still vague, this leak confirms (unsurprisingly) that the Japanese giant is actively working on this next hardware.

A treasure for fans, a nightmare for Game Freak

If this leak is a goldmine for the most hardcore Pokémon fans, it represents a real disaster for Game Freak and Nintendo. Years of work and jealously guarded secrets are now exposed to the light of day.

Among the most interesting documents, we find a multitude of preliminary designs and concept artworks. These sketches offer a unique insight into the creative process behind Pokémon design. Some pocket monsters that never saw the light of day are now known to the public.

But perhaps the most concerning for Game Freak is the leak of the source code for iconic games like Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. This breach could have serious consequences for security and intellectual property. In response to this crisis, Game Freak has announced that it is strengthening its security measures. The company has apologized to those affected by the leak, but has yet to publicly comment on the revelations regarding its future projects. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company are remaining silent for now. This communication strategy could evolve in the coming days, as the real extent of the leak is assessed.
