“Ruba, pharmacist, killed with her husband and children on June 21, 2024, by an Israeli bombing of their home in Gaza”can be read on the photo of a smiling woman, just graduated, alongside her children, which Gisèle is holding up, having come to demonstrate in front of the municipal theatre, among around forty people, this Friday evening. “It is a duty of humanity. A people has been deprived of their right to land, every human being must be concerned about the Palestinians”, she believes, torch in hand.

The objective of this gathering called “circle of silence”, at the initiative of the National Collective for a Just and Lasting Peace between Palestinians and Israelis (AFPS): to make visible the indignation and support of citizens in the public space, to question the “ongoing genocide” and “denounce a war against an entire people that prolongs a policy of dispossession of the Palestinian people that has been underway for decades years”.

After reading the collective's press release, which calls for – among other things – an immediate ceasefire, an end to the occupation and colonization of Palestine, an end to the impunity of the State of Israel, and sanctions “as long as it does not respect international law”, the activists listened to a poem written by a young Palestinian: “It is up to you to live, to tell my story”

The AFPS collective has filed a request for a gathering in front of the Notre-Dame de la Réconciliation church in La Devèze this Saturday, December 21, at 11 a.m., for which they are awaiting approval from the prefecture.
