In a letter sent Friday to his new counterpart, the Liberal immigration critic, André A. Morin, urged the minister to “urgently” form this action group, which would bring together “key players from the ministries concerned and the leaders of francization organizations.”

“Your government has an obligation to respond to the demand for francization, an obligation both towards immigrants who want to promote their integration in French, but also towards Quebec society,” he said. written.

Mr. Morin calls for making francization a priority, in a context where the waiting times to register for Francisation Québec have reached “nine weeks” on average in 2023-2024.

“It seems essential to me that you exercise your leadership […] so that francization courses are given within an acceptable time frame,” he told Mr. Roberge, who last week replaced Minister Christine Fréchette — herself new to her position at the Economy and Energy.
