The Ray-Ban Meta, smart glasses from Mark Zuckerberg's company, have established themselves as one of the real commercial successes of the year 2024 on the tech side. And considering the new features they will be equipped with, it is a safe bet that the trend will continue in 2025!

< h2>Meta's Glasses Get Even Smarter

Because the device took a major turn when Meta integrated its generative artificial intelligence (AI). But it is with the very latest update, v11, that we can truly see the possibilities offered by the technology.

With Live AI, users will be able to have real-time conversations with their glasses. For example, it will be possible to ask them for recipes with the ingredients that are right in front of them.

The Ray-Ban Meta will also be able to translate conversations in real time. Four languages will be available to start with: English, Spanish, French and Italian. « When you talk to someone who speaks one of these three languages, you hear what they say in English through the glasses' speakers or as a transcription on your phone, and vice versa ,” the company explains. It does, however, point out that the AI can make mistakes when translating.

Finally, owners of Ray-Ban signed Meta will be able to activate Shazam with a simple voice command, in order to identify a song they like.

The tech product of the future ?

Please note that, for the time being, real-time features are limited to members of the program ;#8217;Meta early access, while Shazam support is available to all users in the United States and Canada. Europeans will therefore have to be patient, but this already gives us a good idea of what awaits us.

These new features demonstrate Meta's ambitions. The company intends to combine its efforts in virtual and augmented realities with those in artificial intelligence, in particular by integrating AI assistants into its devices. A strategy that seems to be working and, above all, that is attracting followers.

A few days ago, Google unveiled Android XR, a brand new operating system dedicated to smart glasses, with Gemini as an integrated assistant. Apple is also working on such a device, although a launch is not yet planned for the immediate future. But it's a safe bet that the Cupertino giant will deploy Apple Intelligence in its future mixed reality products.

  • Meta introduces new artificial intelligence features to the Ray-Ban Meta.
  • This includes live conversations, real-time translation and access to Shazam with a simple voice command.
  • Features that are, for the moment, not available in Europe. However, they offer a good preview of what awaits us.
