Gaming laptops often struggle to combine performance and thinness. Razer has taken up this challenge brilliantly by presenting its new Blade 16 at CES 2025. This new iteration is not just a simple technical update: it marks a real revolution in the range with a new ultraportable design and the integration of an AMD processor.
Razer has not done things by halves for this 2025 edition. The new Blade 16 is considerably thinner with a thickness reduced by 32% compared to the model previous. In concrete terms, the chassis now measures only 14.9 millimeters at the front and 17.4 millimeters at the rear, excluding the pads. This technical feat places the Blade 16 in direct competition with the 16-inch MacBook Pro and its 15.5 millimeters thickness.
The American manufacturer nevertheless retains the assets that made the range successful. The anodized aluminum unibody chassis remains, as does the extended vapor chamber cooling system.
The most radical change is on the inside. For the first time in its history, the Razer Blade 16 ditches Intel in favor of AMD. The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor takes the lead, accompanied by LPDDR5x memory clocked at 8000 MHz. This choice is not insignificant: preliminary tests on other gaming machines show that this chip offerslonger battery life than its Intel equivalent, while generating less heat.

The high-end configuration includes a mobile RTX 5090 boosted up to 155W, coupled with 24 GB of GDDR7 memory. A considerable firepower that should allow you to fully exploit the 16-inch QHD+ 240 Hz OLED screen. More affordable versions should be satisfied with an IPS panel retaining the QHD+ definition.
One of the weak points of the previous Blade 16 was its keyboard. Razer corrects the situation with a complete overhaul. The key travel increases from 1mm to 1.5mm, a 50% increase in activation distance. The backlighting also becomes complete, finally including numbers and punctuation that were previously left in the shadows. A dedicated Copilot key makes its appearance.
The audio system also evolves with the increase from four to six speakers. The battery, however, loses a few watt-hours, going from 95.2Wh to 90Wh. Razer compensates for this slight reduction with a fast charge that allows you to reach 80% in about 45 minutes. A necessary compromise to achieve this new record thinness.
The Razer Blade 16 2025 will be available during the first quarter of 2025. While pricing has not yet been announced, we can expect a premium positioning that is true to the brand's DNA.
