Radio-Canada

An alleged meth trafficker who was changing a flat tire on the side of the road during a freezing night in Manitoba was unlucky enough to receive a helping hand from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

Shortly after midnight on January 15, a Sainte-Rose du Lac RCMP officer stopped to help the driver who suffered a flat tire along Highway 5. The wind chill index was near -40, according to the police.

The agent immediately noticed the absence of a license plate x27;registration on the vehicle, indicates a police press release.

The sole occupant of the car, a 28-year-old Dauphin man had no license or vehicle papers and provided a false name to the officer.

The officer observed open bottles of alcohol in the car and placed the driver under arrest.

While searching the vehicle, officers discovered several baggies of what they suspect to be methamphetamine, prescription drugs and gift certificates.

A search of the suspect led to the discovery of suspected cocaine, empty bags and several cell phones.
