Vice-president of the departmental council delegated to culture and president of the public cultural cooperation establishment (EPCC) of Pont du Gard, the communist Patrick Malavieille, also honorary mayor of La Grand-Combe, sent a letter to Rachida Dati, Minister of Culture, dated February 3, to “express (his) concerns about the reduction of the collective Culture pass and the consequences on access to learning, encounters with works and artists for the youngest”. For the Cévenol, this system “is an essential lever to guarantee young people's access to culture and strengthen the link between cultural institutions and the associative world. Its recent and sudden reduction directly impacts the diversity and richness of the cultural proposals offered to students, in particular those from the territories furthest from the cultural offer.”

To, ultimately, “give rise to a real ambition”

As a result, Patrick Malavieille writes that he wishes to “propose, at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture, the organization of National Conferences on Artistic and Cultural Education”. An event that would mobilize teachers, artists, local authorities, cultural structures and associations during a “great debate” to “give birth to a real ambition”.

Several “initiatives to promote”

The Gardois, who is ready to make the Pont du Gard available, finally mentions “initiatives to promote”: artist residencies in schools, twinning between schools and cultural structures, education through practice schemes, intergenerational projects, and the creation of an observatory for artistic education and cultural.
