On the one hand, Atlas Paillade managed to come back to level after being 2-0 down, but there was this feeling of bitterness, at the final whistle, of not having scored that third goal. On the other hand, FU Narbonne was not able to maintain its two-goal lead, but it had the mental strength to avoid the worst when the Héraultais put pressure on Giraud's area. « We can be disappointed because we were hoping for three points at home», expressed Geoffrey Dernis, the Atlas Paillade coach who was « happy with the players' reaction ».
The center forward Niang opened the scoring on a penalty (0-1, 20th) for FUN at a time in the game when Atlas Paillade dominated, especially on set pieces. Everything got going in the five minutes of added time in the first half. Niang, first, blocked a clearance from the Pailladin defense and sent a pass to winger Oymak who doubled the lead (0-2, 45th + 5). « They were surgical in their offensives”, commented Geoffrey Dernis.
The best defense in the group had never conceded two goals in a single match until this ninth day (with a game in hand against Saint-Estève which will be played on December 22). Atlas Paillade came back into the game after a combination led by Bakthi and Nait Imaghran that was finished by Lallaigui (1-2, 45th + 5).
The leaders regained confidence after the break (51st, 52nd), even if goalkeeper Bengheyati was close to the own goal of the year (56th). In the process, on a corner, he made up for it after pushing back the dangerous header of Narbonne full-back Oggad (57th). Since this action, the Audois have never again worried Bengheyati. Atlas Paillade, supported by its public, forced FUN to defend and clear each ball.
The Pailladins thought they would equalize on a penalty but Hakkar's shot went over the goal (73rd). That didn't stop Dernis' men from equalizing through Nait Imaghran (2-2, 82nd) after a lot of work by striker Lallaigui. With character, Atlas Paillade showed that it was in the place it deserved.
