Two scientists at a high-security Winnipeg lab have lost their jobs, after investigations revealed they didn't work. failed to protect assets and sensitive information, according to newly released documents.

More than 600 pages of documents were released Wednesday following a special review by representatives from all parties in Commons.

The opposition parties hoped that these documents would shed light on the reasons why the researchers Xiangguo Qiu and Keding Cheng, were escorted out of the National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg in July 2019, then fired a year and a half later in January 2021.

The curators also wanted to see documents related to the transfer, supervised by Ms. Qiu, of the deadly Ebola and Nipah viruses to the Chinese Institute of Virology in Wuhan in March 2019.

Three former high-ranking judges have had the final say on the disclosure of the recently released, partially redacted documents.
