Review Deadpool & Wolverine: the bloody chaos we dreamed of

For years, superhero films have invaded cinemas and delighted fans and production studios. But after years of success, blockbusters featuring superheroes are no longer as attractive as before.

After shamelessly dominating the box office, Marvel is multiplying flops and other cinematic flops. It’s the same story with DC. We have to face the facts: the era of superheroes seems to have passed. Spectators have been bored since Avengers: Endgame in 2019. Deadpool, as we like it

If we love Deadpool so much, it's because he stands out from the crowd and breaks established codes. Far from the sanitized superhero films that pretty much all follow the same roadmap, the films dedicated to the vulgar antihero stand out. And that's what made him successful in 2016 and 2018.

Deadpool is vulgar, sarcastic, violent, with questionable morals… But he's also hilarious and his ability to regularly break the fourth wall appeals to viewers. The problem is that this frankness and this hemoglobin galore are quite far from what Disney and the Marvel Cinematic Universe have accustomed us to. So bringing Deadpool back under the Disney banner can be scary. Will Disney have the courage to accept Deadpool as he is ? As the fans love him ? That's the whole point of this third opus.

We're not going to keep the suspense going any longer : Deadpool & Wolverinetook nothing away from the DNA of good old Deadpool. This return of the mercenary is shattering. He has lost none of his outspokenness, his (very) crude language and his unorthodox methods. The takeover of Fox by Disney hovers over the feature film but instead of being an obstacle, it is ultimately a springboard to chain the floodgates and even to make it, in a certain way, a beautiful tribute.

Deadpool definitely doesn't mince his words in Deadpool & Wolverine. The protagonist does not hesitate to attack Disney and to have fun with the criticisms regularly made to the house of Mickey's ideas for a while. A sort of mea culpa that never fails to make us laugh out loud throughout the screening.

If it is a question of the continuation of the adventures of Deadpool, the feature film does not forget that the title is Deadpool & Wolverine. Thus, the former X-Man is not harmed and does not act as a green plant in the wanderings of the antihero in the red costume. Quite the contrary!

Everyone has been waiting for the Deadpool/Wolverine duo for a long time. It is clear that it was worth it. The chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman is simply stunning. We feel that the two actors are having fun behind Shawn Levy's cameras. Which is the key to fighting formidable antagonists who simply want to annihilate the universe.

A duo with claws out

What we expect from a film stamped Deadpool is, above all, good fights. In this regard, you will not be disappointed! Epic battles, Deadpool & Wolverine is full of them. Even better ? The feature film pulls no punches. We have barely regained our bearings with the antihero when he is already getting back to work. But we are not going to shy away from our pleasure. Free violence and hemoglobin everywhere, this is the Deadpool we love so much.

Despite some slightly weak visual effects at times, Deadpool & Wolverine is a feast for the eyes, with some extremely well-choreographed fights. Fans will definitely be delighted.

This new film relies on fan service, it must be admitted. But he does it intelligently, in order to serve the plot. Deadpool & Wolverine is full of surprises, cameos and other winks that should excite comic book fans. It's difficult to predict everything that Shawn Levy's feature film has in store, but it certainly lives up to our expectations.

Despite the omnipresent humor, Deadpool & Wolverine manages to find his balance and touch us. Laughter, emotions, explosive fights, multiple surprises… This is quite a program. Finally, you have to see Deadpool & Wolverinefor what it is: very good entertainment. The feature film is particularly refreshing and gives us everything we expect from it. The takeover of Fox by Disney was not the obstacle so feared and Mickey's house of ideas managed to get around it with flying colors.

We feel that the teams had a blast on Deadpool & Wolverine. So the spectators, too, have fun for a little over two hours and don't see the time passing. The feature film fills our eyes and ears and reminds us why we love superhero films so much. Because yes, Deadpool & Wolverine reconciled us with the superheroic genre in cinema after numerous disappointments.
