The association Comme chat et chien of Bagnols-sur-Cèze makes a right of reply.

Following an article published on December 9, 2024 in Midi Libre, the association Comme chat et chien of Bagnols-sur-Cèze made a right of reply:

“The association Comme chat et chien denounces the false and defamatory statements made in the article published on December 9, 2024, which harm its reputation.

Mr. Olivier Wiry accuses the association “Comme chat et chien” of receiving a subsidy of €1,000 “several times a year and of defrauding the average person in Bagnols”. Only one grant application was put on the agenda of the 2024 municipal councils. Consequently, the association was unable to receive any other subsidy or receive money, in any way whatsoever, from the town hall of Bagnols-sur-Cèze, and was therefore unable to “defraud the average person Bagnolais”.

Mr. Olivier Wiry states that he hoped that the association would provide him with veterinary invoices relating to the sterilization campaign. The association recalls the mode of operation of this campaign: the invoices for the sterilization of street cats are sent directly by the veterinarians to the association “30 million friends” which pays them directly, without any sum passing through the association. This is clearly specified in article 6 of the tripartite agreement defining the terms of implementation of the campaign. The invoices are therefore available from the association 30 million friends.

Faced with accusations of being a phantom association, the association specifies that in the years 2022 and 2023 it proceeded with the trapping for sterilization of 177 street cats in compliance with the campaign budget. For the year 2024 the agreement was signed in June, the association 30 million friends gave its agreement to start the campaign at the end of July with a budget allowing for approximately 70 sterilizations. The campaign started at the beginning of September due to the summer holidays of veterinarians. As of December 16, 2024, 45 street cats have been sterilized. In addition, during the period from 2022 to 2024, the association spent nearly €9,000 on veterinary care at the veterinary clinics of Bagnols-sur-Cèze and Saint-Alexandre.
The association reserves the right to take legal action against the persons who made these comments.”
