Rocket League Global Outage! What Happened ?

© Psyonix

Rocket League, you probably know it, it's this amazing video game launched 10 years ago now, and which aims to be a rather astonishing mix between car driving and football. Two teams, made up of one to four players, driving vehicles, compete during a match in order to kick a ball and score in the opposing goal. Despite its “old“ side, Rocket League remains a very (very) played title even today, with daily peaks of over 35,000 players on Steam.

A global outage for Rocket League

Of course, like many other titles, Rocket League relies on the precious web network to function properly. However, yesterday evening, players were faced with a major problem, with some being unable to log in to access the game, and services being completely unavailable.

At Psyonix, we quickly reacted, through a publication on the X network. “We are aware that players may encounter problems with matchmaking or general connection issues in Rocket League. We are investigating and will update you as soon as the issue is resolved.

And the least we can say is that the game's technical support was extremely responsive, since just an hour later, Psyonix indicated that matchmaking (which allows you to start games in competitive mode) and connection problems as a whole had been resolved.

Despite this restart of services, some players continued to encounter problems with Rocket League, particularly on Xbox. The game's official support then informed the players concerned that they might need to restart the box to reset its cache memory. “If that doesn't work, let us know which Xbox model you have, thank you!” added the Rocket League Status account.

At this time, the Epic Games services page is not showing any issues, and everything (Fortnite, Rocket League, Fall Guys, etc.) is fully operational.

Regarding the same Rocket League, the World Championship is coming to France in 2025, with a meeting set up at the LDCL Arena in Décines (near Lyon), from September 12 to 14. This is the first time that the Rocket League Championship Series has landed in France, and the 20 best teams in the world will compete for a first prize of $1.2 million.
