Sailing: Phare 40 sailing based in Port-Camargue trains its future skippers on J80s

Anthony Streicher, the team manager of the Class40 Phénix who also runs the Phare 40 sailing association, has prepared four people for the crewed races on the Mediterranean circuit. 

While François Verdier and Pierre-Laurent Garnero's Class40 Phénix is ​​being rebuilt in Port-Camargue before the launch of the 2025 season, other skippers are in training.

Anthony Streicher, the project's team manager, was in Toulon just before the holidays to develop his association Phare40 Sailing, which aims to participate in the reconstruction, through sailing, of injured soldiers, gendarmes or police officers.

He was with four of them to present the J80s (8 m monohulls) which will be used for the team's training during the winter phase. Before then taking part in the Mediterranean Class40 circuit which offers crewed races. “Together, we are sailing towards reconstruction, pushing our limits and discovering the joys of ocean racing”, Anthony Streicher rejoiced.

Competitions during the spring and summer that will serve as preparation for the Transat Café L’Or (ex Jacques-Vabre) which will start on October 26, 2025 and in which François Verdier and Pierre-Laurent Garnero hope to participate.
