A hit-and-run driver fatally hit a motorway employee on the night of 13 to 14 August.

SANEF, the motorway operator, announced on Wednesday 14 August 2024 that an employee was killed by a hit-and-run driver on Tuesday evening at the Saint-Avold toll in Moselle. “While she was assisting a customer at the Saint-Avold toll on the A4, a vehicle hit her at high speed and fled,” SANEF announced. According to the information disclosed by the operator, the victim was 59 years old. The tragedy occurred around 9 p.m., after the employee came to the aid of a motorcyclist at the toll booth. “With the barrier raised, the motorcyclist continued on his way and the car following him did not stop,” added Captain Nicolas Guillemin, commander of the departmental road safety squadron, to the Républicain lorrain. By forcing the toll barrier, the driver therefore hit the fifty-year-old, an employee for 38 years in the same company, who was injured in the head, before her death was announced at midday.
