“Sam is a crook”: Elon Musk takes a direct swipe at Donald Trump’s AI project

While this initiative has something to seduce, it seems to greatly displease Elon Musk, who quickly criticized it on his own social network X (formerly Twitter). “They don't really have the money,” the Tesla boss asserted. He added: “SoftBank has well under $10 billion secured. I have that on a reliable source.”

His statements did not fail to attract the attention of Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI. He played the diplomacy at first: “I sincerely respect your accomplishments and I think you are the most inspiring entrepreneur of our time.”

His rival insisted, he ended up going harder: “What you're saying is wrong, and you probably know it. I realize that what's best for the country isn't always what's best for your businesses, but in your new role, I hope you'll put America first.”

Elon Musk didn't want to leave it at that. He explained to an Internet user: “Sam is a crook.” He also retweeted other rather violent images casting doubt on the veracity of the sums advanced on the Stargate project.

As you can see, the founder of SpaceX is continuing his crusade against OpenAI, against whom he has filed a lawsuit. He wants to block OpenAI's attempt to change from a non-profit organization to a for-profit company. Remember that Elon Musk was part of this structure at the beginning before leaving it. He subsequently founded his own AI company, xAI.

Observers of American political life also note that he does not hesitate to attack head-on this project promoted by Donald Trump, which has probably not escaped the latter. Speculation about the relationship between these two men has been at the heart of discussions for several months and some believe that their “honeymoon” could be short-lived.
