Earlier this year, Samsung bet on artificial intelligence, integrating Galaxy AI, a series of new features based on generative AI, on its Galaxy S24 series. And today, the strategy is paying off, since according to a new study by Counterpoint Research, the manufacturer has achieved a feat that it had not reproduced since 2018 on the smartphone market.
The analysis firm has just published the Top 10 best-selling smartphones in the third quarter. And while this ranking is dominated by the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro, we also find a good number of mid-range models from Samsung, the Redmi 13C 4G from Xiaomi, as well as the Galaxy S24, which is in tenth place.

And while Samsung’s flagship didn’t sell as well as its direct competitors in Q3, the fact that it made it into the top 10 is already an achievement. It’s an indicator of how popular the Galaxy S24 is compared to its predecessor. In the top 10 for Q3 2023, for example, there were no Samsung flagships. “Samsung’s Galaxy S24 has retained a spot in the top 10 for Q3 2024 for the third consecutive quarter. Additionally, for the first time in a third quarter since 2018, a Galaxy S series variant entered the top 10. Sales of the Galaxy S24 series were driven primarily by a strong marketing focus on its GenAI capabilities,” Counterpoint says.

Recently, the manufacturer presented its quarterly financial results. And it discussed its outlook for 2025, in a document summarizing these results.
We learn that next year, “Samsung will develop sales of the S25 series by offering a complete Galaxy Al experience and strengthening marketing programs.” In other words, the manufacturer should present new AI features. In addition, it could rely on Qualcomm’s new processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, to exploit even more complex artificial intelligence technologies.
