In 2023, Samsung's smartphone sales declined, allowing Apple to become the new market leader. However, it is important to point out that if we only take into account high-end devices, such as the Galaxy S23 or folding smartphones, 2023 was a good year for Samsung. Indeed, its previous flagships sold very well. And Samsung certainly expects to do even better this year, thanks to the S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra that it has just presented.
At the moment, everything suggests that the Galaxy S24 series will sell very well. Indeed, Samsung's new models have received good feedback. And moreover, the first very encouraging figures have just been released. In an article published a few days ago, the Android Authority site relays the Korean media Maeil Business News, which discusses pre-orders for Samsung's new flagships in its domestic market.
According to this source, the Galaxy S24 series has set a new record for pre-orders for Samsung's Galaxy S range in Korea. More precisely, in one week, Samsung would have recorded 1.21 million pre-orders in Korea, compared to 1.09 million for the Galaxy S23 series in 2023. However, the Galaxy S24 series would not beat the record of the Galaxy Note 10 which, at its release, received 1.3 million pre-orders in Korea. But at the same time, pre-orders for this model had lasted longer.

The same Korean source indicates that the most ordered model would have been the Galaxy S24 Ultra, with a share of 60%, followed by the S24 Plus, with a share of 21% on pre-orders. It remains to be seen whether Samsung's new flagships also make a good debut in the rest of the world, and whether this success will last. In any case, this is a very good sign for Samsung.
And it is very likely that the success of the Galaxy S24 and its variants will they sell well worldwide, will be attributed to the new AI-based features that Samsung is offering (Galaxy AI). As a reminder, the S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra use artificial intelligence to help users break the language barrier, write better text messages, or even save time when reading articles. Otherwise, the Galaxy S24 series smartphones are also the first Samsung devices to benefit from a 7-year software support period. This means that for 7 years, users will be able to keep the same smartphone, while continuing to receive updates.
