Samsung Takes Back the Reins of the Global Smartphone Market in Q2 2024 , according to a recent analysis by Canalys. The Korean giant has 18% of the market share, closely followed by Apple at 16%.
The gap between the two giants has therefore narrowed considerably, from 4 points in 2023 to just 2 points this year. If we compare it with 2023, the difference was still clearer with a difference of 4 points, once again in favor of Samsung.
AI, the new high-end battle horse
Samsung's performance in the premium segment is largely explained by the success of Galaxy AI, its suite of artificial intelligence tools. While Apple is not far behind with its “Apple Intelligence”, Samsung seems to stand out by strengthening Galaxy AI with One UI 6.1.1. A confirmation with regard to AI, which has become a strong argument in the race for innovation and on which most manufacturers are now focused.

The American brand apparently not being decided to offer such a model, the Korean is taking advantage to take a head ahead here. If this trend continues, Samsung could see its market share climb even further in the third quarter of 2024.
- Samsung regains its crown in this second quarter of 2024 with 18% market share
- If the Korean was also ahead last year, Apple is reducing the gap by going from 4 to 2% difference with Samsung
- Samsung is still popular thanks to its announcements on AI, but also because it has folding smartphones where Apple remains behind in this area
