Samsung is preparing the launch of its new series of high-end smartphones, which will be direct competitors to the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. As a reminder, the brand has already published the official invitation for the Unpacked event during which it will present the Galaxy S25 and its variants. These new smartphones will be unveiled on January 22, during a presentation that will be broadcast online.
In the meantime, Samsung continues to tease its new products. It had already indicated, during the presentation of its quarterly results, that it would continue to focus on AI in 2025. And in a video published this week, entitled “A real AI companion is on the horizon”, it gives a preview of the new assistant that will be offered on its smartphones. In the video, a user is seen asking the AI assistant to find a pet-friendly Italian restaurant with outdoor seating, send that information to another person, and save the appointment in their calendar, all with a single prompt.

In other words, the video indicates that the Galaxy S25 will have a new assistant that can be interacted with more naturally, and that can handle multiple requests at the same time. For the moment, Samsung is not saying more, but it is possible that this is a new version of the Bixby assistant, improved thanks to a large language model. Indeed, if Samsung relies heavily on its partnership with Google to offer AI features on its smartphones, the latter has also developed a large language model that it already uses internally to make its employees more productive. And Samsung has never hidden its ambition to use this technology to improve Bixby.
In any case, the Galaxy S25 series is highly anticipated, as it should bring some important new features, compared to the previous generation. In addition to the fact that Samsung will offer new AI-based features, the Galaxy S25 and its variants could also benefit from a new ultra-powerful processor provided by Qualcomm: the Snapdragon 8 Elite. As a reminder, this chip has a 45% more efficient CPU, with a 44% improvement in energy efficiency, and a GPU whose performance and energy efficiency have been improved by 40%.
In addition to this, this chip has a more efficient NPU (component dedicated to AI). Qualcomm mentions a 45% improvement on tasks that rely on artificial intelligence. And according to some sources, it is even possible that Samsung has collaborated with Qualcomm to develop an “overclocked” version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite that would therefore be even faster than the base model used by other brands.
