Apple does not publish sales figures and, as such, we will not know never, exactly, how many iPhones were placed under the Christmas tree. However, thanks to the ranking of the Play Store, the Android application store, we know that this year, Santa Claus converted a significant number of 'Android smartphone users to iOS.

Apple doesn’t offer many Android apps. But among the few apps the company does have for Google’s platform is “Move to iOS.” As its name suggests, it’s an app that Apple designed to help people switch from a competing smartphone to an iPhone. And, according to data from Appfigures, “Move to iOS” is ranked 14th among free Android apps in the United States. In France, it is even in 7th place.
As a reminder, when activating the iPhone, this Apple application for Android facilitates the transfer of photos, but also messages, contacts, calendar, and certain accounts on online platforms.

iPhone 16, AI: Has Apple won over the crowds ?

As a reminder, the two main new Apple products of this third quarter were the iPhone 16 series, as well as Apple Intelligence. The iPhone 16 series benefits from interesting new features, including a new processor and the Camera Control feature for taking photos.

As for Apple Intelligence, these are the new features based on Apple's AI. These new features are only compatible with the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Recently, Apple updated Apple Intelligence to allow ChatGPT to be integrated into Siri. But for now, Apple Intelligence is not yet available on iPhones in the European Union, as Apple must first ensure that this new feature is compatible with the Digital Markets Act.

  • It seems that many Android users switched to iPhones over Christmas
  • Indeed, the “Migrate to iOS” application, which makes it easier to change platforms, is one of the most popular Android applications at the moment
  • The two main new features of the year are the iPhone 16 series and Apple Intelligence (Apple’s AI features that are not yet available on the iPhone in the EU)
