Electricity
The electricity bill of most French households, or more than 24 million households, will drop by 15% on February 1, a first since 2015. A consequence of the end of the tariff shield and an absence of tax increases, as announced in a decree on December 28, 2024.
Toll prices
On February 1, 2025, motorway toll prices in France will be increased by an average of 0.92%, a smaller increase than in previous years.
These increases are the result of negotiations between the motorway companies and the State, and take into account both the general level of inflation and investments made to improve the network.
Pensions
Basic pensions have been increased by 2.2% since Wednesday, January 1, 2025, in line with inflation as provided for by law.
For a basic pension of 1,200 euros, for example, this increase in pensions represents an increase of 26.4 euros per month, which will be visible on the February payment.
Cigarettes
After an initial increase on January 1, 2025, the price of tobacco will increase again on February 1. While this increase does not affect all brands, the prices of some packets will increase by 20 to 50 cents.
The increase also affects some brands of rolling tobacco. Some smokers will therefore have to pay up to €13.50 for some packets.
Smokers of 20-unit Dunhill reds will have to pay €13.50 instead of €13.20. Gauloises Blondes Bleu will go from €12.30 to €12.50. As for Bastos rouges, in 20 units, they will go from €11.00 to €11.20. As for rolling tobacco, the Fleur du Pays 1937 in 30 g, goes from €17.30 to €17.40.
