A great reward for the high school, which is one of the ten establishments awarded. “The goal is to show that the action we take can have a positive impact on well-being and mental health,” introduced Sophie Béjean, rector of the Montpellier academy, during the presentation of the labels for the second edition of Edusanté.

Growth of school phobia

Joffre High School has decided to focus on prevention in terms of mental health. “We have established a close partnership with the CHU for all these issues”, explains Marine Pierret, CPE in the establishment. The latter leads a workshop on psycho-social skills focused on self-esteem. “We realized that there was a real need on the part of the students.”

The high school officials notice a growth in school phobia. “We are a city center establishment with a rather privileged population. The pressure is enormous from the parents but also from the students themselves”, specifies the principal Olivier Briard. “It is sometimes due to the pressure linked to the competitive examinations for the grandes écoles. This fragility is sometimes expressed through hospitalizations, somewhat desperate gestures which draw attention to deviant behavior.”
