Sébastien Cauet case: major victory for the presenter before a tough confrontation

Since November 2023, Sebastien Cauet has been in turmoil. The former radio host is targeted by five complaints, from five different women, for rape and sexual assault. After being removed from the radio station on which he worked, NRJ, he was indicted for a rape of a minor committed in November 2014 in Geneva, a rape of a minor committed in 1994 and a rape of an adult committed in 2011 in Paris, as well as sexual assaults on minors committed in 2012.

While he has suffered setbacks for many months, he obtained a first victory on Thursday, January 23, 2025. Indeed, according to information from Agence France-Presse, a woman will be tried on May 2, 2025 for blackmailing the former radio host. She will appear for attempted extortion, slanderous denunciation and harassment of Sebastien Cauet.

The woman on trial had already been taken into custody in October 2023

This is the woman who had been taken into custody in October 2024 and then released “to carry out a certain number of checks with regard to the statements of the accused“, the public prosecutor specified. But on January 13, 2025, her custody resumed to lead to this next trial.

“&At the end of this measure, the person concerned was referred on the decision of the Nanterre public prosecutor's office as part of a summons by official report, then placed under judicial supervision pending his judgment“, the public prosecutor's office explained. For the time being, Me Jade Dousselin, who is defending Sébastien Cauet in this case, did not wish to react.

Sebastien Cauet denies the facts he is accused of

For his part, Sebastien Cauet has always denied the facts he is accused of. He had also claimed to be the victim of cyberbullying, malicious denunciation and attempted extortion. For these facts, he had filed a complaint. He had been heard at the end of 2023 in the two preliminary investigations that had been opened in Nanterre for this complaint.

While he was authorized to resume his work as a radio host, without an audience in the studios, he has not yet found a contract. However, he has not hidden to be very keen to return to service.

The woman who will soon be tried is presumed innocent of the facts of which she is accused.
