At the call of the Manifesto for the Defense of Hospitals and Maternity Units in South Aveyron, about one hundred and twenty people gathered this Tuesday morning at the Émile-Borel hospital center before the meeting of the establishment's supervisory board. There were notably municipal elected officials, activists from the Manifesto and the Émile-Borel collective, but also hospital workers, some of whom have been on strike in the emergency department since November 28.
Henri Célié, spokesperson for the Manifesto, took the floor and addressed his remarks to the director of the regional health agency (ARS), who was absent. “Unkept promises create distrust. Your commitment to maintaining the reception capacities of the services of our two hospitals until the opening of the new common building was an important moment. The problem is that since then the closures have multiplied. This fuels a feeling of manipulation, of communication turned into propaganda to camouflage a real desire for closures, particularly in Saint-Affrique. It is important that your commitment to maintaining services is translated into concrete terms.”
200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000The spokesperson also requests that the mission of the director of the Millau and Saint-Affrique hospitals be reframed. “The current management is solely focused on the mission of setting up the joint hospital. She neglects recruitment and flouts caregivers.” The Manifesto calls for the reopening of the second emergency line and the currently closed medical service beds. It calls for the renovation budgets for the current hospitals in Saint-Affrique and Millau to be reinstated “which would allow the renovation of the Saint-Affrique operating theater.”
« Today Tuesday, December 17, the hospital's supervisory board was to be held at 9 a.m., declared Sébastien David at the microphone in front of the assembly. In order to demonstrate our dissatisfaction with this lack of dialogue, and since this seems to be the only way to make ourselves heard, I am canceling today's supervisory board meeting. As long as a meeting has not been arranged with the Director General of the ARS, with the doctors, with the Manifesto and with the collective, the hospital center's supervisory board will not be held. This is a decision that I take responsibility for. It does not matter if, in the absence of a supervisory board, decisions have to be postponed. This is an essential and non-negotiable request on a subject as important as the provision of care in South Aveyron. The ball is in the ARS's court. » Declaration applauded by the assembly. The supervisory board was to debate the hospital budget but also the reimbursement of the costs incurred by the latter on behalf of the health cooperation group of resources of the future hospital.
The Manifesto also denounces the financial burden on the two hospitals “of the costs of implementing the joint hospital that the ministry and the Region had agreed to bear.” For Régine Sauveplane, nurse and CGT secretary of the hospital, the management “no longer recruits any doctors in Saint-Affrique. And worse. Today it does everything it can to disgust and sicken the doctors who have been there for decades. One after the other, they leave. The management is doing everything it can to close Saint-Affrique.”
When the hospital's supervisory board is due to start, Sébastien David, mayor and chairman of the board, takes the microphone in front of everyone present and the hospital management. “A fortnight ago, I expressed my strong dissatisfaction to the Director General of ARS Occitanie following his visit to Belmont, without any time for discussion with the doctors at the Saint-Affrique hospital center, nor with the collective and the Manifesto. This is a real blunder. It is disrespectful to the people of Saint-Affrique, inconceivable! This says a lot about the dialogue that exists and the interest in our hospital. I do not support this.”
For the mayor, in order to resolve the current situation of tension and deadlock, time for discussion with the various protagonists is more than necessary: ”I have been asking the authorities for this almost daily for the past fifteen years. days.”
