All six people aboard a private medical plane that crashed in Philadelphia, United States, on Friday, January 31, 2025, have died. Among the victims was a little girl who had just received medical treatment and was returning to her home country, Mexico.

A medical plane carrying six people, including a child, crashed near a Philadelphia mall on Friday, January 31, 2025, said Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, the medical transport company operating it. The accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. (midnight:30 a.m. French time Saturday, February 1, 2025).

There are no survivors. The ambulance plane had taken off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport and was scheduled to go to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri.

“A life-saving treatment”

All six people traveling on the private jet are Mexican nationals, the Mexican Foreign Ministry said.

A spokesperson for Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, Shai Gold, told NBC News, as reported by Le Parisien, that the child on board had come to the United States to receive “life-saving treatment. She had received life-saving treatment and was ready to go home.”

The cost of the flight had been covered by an international charity, according to the same organization source.

She was traveling with her mother

The little girl had been treated at Shriners Children's Hospital Philadelphia and was traveling with her mother. “Shriners Children's is heartbroken to confirm that one of its pediatric patients and his mother were aboard the Jet Rescue air ambulance that crashed in Philadelphia tonight,”, a spokesperson for the facility was quoted as saying by NBC News.

The plane crashed around 6:30 p.m. near the Roosevelt Mall, an outdoor shopping center less than 3 miles from the airport, officials said.

The tragedy comes two days after an American Airlines regional jet collided with a military helicopter Wednesday near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, killing 67 people.
