She was reporting on social media about her child's battle with a terminal illness. This was not the reality. Detectives claim that this Australian influencer drugged her 1-year-old baby girl before filming her in “immense distress and pain,” reports the BBC.
The mother is said to have developed this ploy to generate donations and grow her online community.
Doctors had sounded the alarm last October. The baby was then admitted to hospital suffering from “severe emotional and physical distress and harm”.
After months of investigation, the 34-year-old influencer was charged with torture, administering poison, manufacturing child exploitation material and fraud, according to the British media outlet.
The thirty-year-old has raised 60,000 Australian dollars or €36,243 on GoFundMe, an amount that the site is trying to reimburse, according to the police inspector in charge of the investigation.
The influencer is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court this Friday, January 17, 2025.
