At CES 2025, one of Nvidia’s many announcements suggests a coming revolution in the field of smart glasses powered by artificial intelligence (AI). Soon the advent ?

A rapidly emerging sector

The Cosmos models presented by the manufacturer are specifically designed for physical AI: they are able to collect data on the world and the environment to then train AI adapted to robots or autonomous cars. But another type of device could greatly benefit from it, according to Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia: smart glasses.

These devices are experiencing a huge gain in popularity, particularly since the rise of generative AI. The Ray-Ban Meta are the perfect example, with new features acclaimed thanks to the integration of an assistant directly into the product. They exceeded one million sales in November 2024, demonstrating the appeal of this innovative solution to users.

” The integration of artificial intelligence into wearable technologies and augmented reality devices, including smart glasses, opens up fascinating prospects for the future of digital technology », Jensen Huang said during a press conference on the sidelines of CES.

These remarks come at just the right time. Last month, Google, Samsung and Qualcomm announced the creation of a new mixed reality platform for smart glasses and headsets, called Android XR. This reflects the growing importance of this type of product, while Apple is also working on the development of mixed reality glasses.

Nvidia positions itself as a key player

With the Cosmos models, Nvidia offers a technological foundation that could be adopted by smart glasses manufacturers. By combining their capabilities with cloud or local processing, These devices could not only ” see ” their environment, but also interpret it in real time to meet users' needs.

This opens up new possibilities, transforming the product into an augmented personal assistant, capable of giving visual indications superimposed in the field of vision, providing detailed descriptions of the environment, or even helping to accomplish complex tasks.

With the market for glasses expected to grow by 73.1% in 2024 according to the International Data Corporation, Nvidia is positioning itself as a key player in this emerging technological ecosystem. While the company has not announced a specific product, its model is intended to accelerate their adoption.

  • Nvidia's models dedicated to physical AI could boost the smart glasses market.
  • This sector has seen a major boost with the Ray-Ban Meta, especially since an AI assistant was integrated into the product.
  • Other tech giants, such as Google and Apple, are working on this technology.
