The Regional Directorate of Occitanie Stations of SNCF Gares et Connexions, recently created and in operation since January 1, was inaugurated this Wednesday in Montpellier, where it was decided that its headquarters would be based. And where 22 jobs have been created, while nearly 300 employees already work across the region.

292 railway stations and stops in Occitanie

Hilaire Hautem, former deputy territorial director at SNCF Réseau Occitanie, has taken over this entity, the relevance of which he recalled during this inauguration: “We wanted to get closer to the regions and better respond to the challenges of mobility in Occitanie” thus declared the man who is responsible for the design, operation, maintenance and development of the 292 railway stations and passenger stops in Occitanie.

Decarbonized mobility

The issue of decarbonized mobility was also at the heart of the speeches by Julie Frêche, vice-president of the Montpellier Metropolis responsible for transport, and Jean-Luc Gibelin, vice-president of the Region also responsible for transport, who represented President Carole Delga.

All under the approving gaze of Marlène Dolveck, deputy general manager of the SNCF group. Before Hilaire Hautem, mentioned “making stations accessible for people with disabilities or reduced mobility. This is our priority”.

With projects underway in Perpignan, Carcassonne or Béziers, soon to be started in Narbonne, or continued in Nîmes.
