SNCF strike: disruptions on Thursday 21 November, “ultimatum” date before an unlimited strike

Spread the love

SNCF STRIKE. The SNCF inter-union is calling for a strike of TGV, Intercités, TER and RER this Thursday, November 21, 2024, before a renewable strike in December. What are the traffic forecasts??

[Updated November 18, 2024 at 12:58 p.m.] Disruptions on the TGV, TER, Intercités and RER rails are expected from this Wednesday evening, November 20. The SNCF unions have called with one voice for a strike this Thursday, November 21, 2024, all day until Thursday morning, 8 a.m. Promising to “step up very hard” that day, they denounce a “strategy of social dumping and unlimited financial profitability” on the part of the management of the railway company, wishing for “the cessation of the process of discontinuing Fret SNCF and obtaining a moratorium”, “the cessation of the process of making TER, Transilien and Intercité subsidiaries” and the establishment of a “multi-annual programming law for the modernization of the railway system”.

This day of strike action is announced as an “ultimatum” before a potential movement renewable every 24 hours planned from Wednesday, December 11, 2024, i.e. 10 days before the start of the end-of-year holidays. The consequences for SNCF users are likely to be considerable. Disruptions are to be planned on the main lines (TGV, Intercités), the medium lines (TER) as well as the smaller ones in the Paris region (Transilien and RER) managed by the SNCF. On December 11, if the strike is renewed, it could disrupt scheduled journeys during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000

This mobilization inevitably reminds us of the strike that paralyzed the French railways for two months in 2019, during the first mobilization against the pension reform, or even the strike movement of 2022, when the controllers stopped work during the holidays.

What traffic disruptions during the SNCF strike ?

The strike on Thursday, November 21 will take place from Wednesday, November 20 at 7 p.m. to Friday, November 22 at 8 a.m.. Traffic will therefore return to normal on Friday, November 22. The detailed disruptions have not yet been announced, and you will be the first to know on this page.

In December, users of the main lines (TGV, Intercités), medium-sized lines (TER) and smaller lines on the Île-de-France network (Transilien and RER managed by SNCF) could expect major disruptions starting on 11 December at 7 p.m., but we don't know for how long.

How do I know if my train has been cancelled? due to the SNCF strike?

Passengers on cancelled TGV and Intercité trains will receive information via email or SMS between 24 and 48 hours in advance (provided they provided their contact details when booking). However, users of TER trains without a connection will not receive SMS. It is advisable to check the information by entering your train number the day before and just before departure on the SNCF website.

Where to follow SNCF traffic forecasts?

SNCF users can quickly check the traffic status and find out if a particular train has been cancelled or is running late. For information on TGVs, the telephone number available is 0805903635. To follow traffic on all major and medium-sized lines (TGV, Intercités, TER), go to this SNCF page. For information on the Transilien or RER in the Paris suburbs, call 0805903635 or consult the dedicated platform.
