This Monday, January 27, the Open Occitanie offers a gala poster for the first round. Montpellier's Arthur Cazaux faces Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka. Youth facing experience.
A great poster to kick off the Montpellier tournament. The local player, Arthur Cazaux, faces one of the most charismatic players on the circuit, Stan Wawrinka.
The Swiss, with three Grand Slam tournaments (Australian Open 2014, Roland-Garros 2015, US Open 2016) under his belt in the middle of the “big 3” period, is the oldest in the competition. He will be 40 in March. He faces the youngest, Cazaux, 22.
“Stan, I've known him since I was little. I watched him on TV. But I've also been able to get to know him for a few years. He's a really nice guy, who inspired me. Three Grand Slams is something huge. But tomorrow (today), he's an opponent like any other”, assures the Montpellier native.

“Arthur is a very good player, with great potential. He's young. I've had the chance to get to know him. You feel like he's a good person, you want to spend time with him. He's a hard worker. I hope that he will go as far as possible”, says Wawrinka.

“I asked Seb Grosjean (director of the Open) to play doubles. He suggested Arthur to me. I said yes straight away. We trained yesterday (Saturday), we had already trained in the past. We get on well, it's a pleasure to play with him”, continues the 39-year-old Swiss.
Arthur Cazaux – Stan Wawrinka starts at 6:30 p.m. on the Patrice-Dominguez court. The match is broadcast on ViaOccitanie, L’Equipe Live and on the new Tennis Channel.
