We no longer present Stranger Things. Over the years, the saga of the Duffer brothers has established itself as one of Netflix's sure values and one of the big names in pop culture worldwide. What we know a little less, however, is that the story of this fiction would have been influenced by a conspiracy theory called the Montauk project.
Concretely, this version, which is questionable and must be taken with a grain of salt, maintains that children were kidnapped from Camp Hero, a currently abandoned military base located in Montauk, a small village in New York State.
Paranormal experiments were carried out on them, including teleportations, time travel, or telekinesis, which is not good certainly not unlike the scenes with Eleven in Stranger Things.
As our colleagues at Looper recall, the Duffer brothers were the subject of a lawsuit from a filmmaker in 2018 He accuses them of being inspired by his short film project called Montauk.
Even more recently, Christopher Garetano made a documentary called “The Montauk Chronicles”where he returns about what was going on in this military base. Quoted by the Telegraph, he confides that he was turned away from the area while he was walking around as a child:
I didn't even realize that there was a base there. In summer, it is difficult to see the radar tower behind the thick foliage if you are not looking in the right direction.
Although we must maintain a certain distance from this theory, we also know that strange experiments were carried out on American citizens in the second half of the 20th century, we are thinking in particular of the MK-Ultra project, which tends to entertain numerous fantasies.
In any case, the series Stranger Things will conclude at the end of season 5 which should be released in 2024 on Netflix. At least that's what was planned until now, but it is possible that the joint strike of the writers and actors will change the initial plans.
In the meantime, the franchise will also be declined at the theater with an original play which will be performed this year at the Phoenix Theater in London. If you want to know more about this project, click here.
